Growing up the son of a West Coast Video Manager, Sean-Paul has literally been playing video games for as long as he can remember. Starting as a wee little boy in his room with a 7” black and white TV and his Atari 2600 with Tank Plus, not much has changed, just the room and television have gotten bigger. When not gaming, Sean-Paul is usually cooking, watching anime, or riding his bike around Singapore and dreaming up his next computer build.

CES 2012 Post Show Report – NYKO

While wandering the hallowed halls of  the Las Vegas Convention Center, we happened to find a lot of junk. And not just worthless products that nobody needs, but also junk that makes one wonder what kind of business strategy can be behind selling a product that everyone else makes. There has to be a limit to how many different approaches one can take to heapdphones while keeping the cost down, but the answer to that riddle did not lie in the row after row of headphones in the North Hall.

The Central Hall was home to the super booths, like Samsung and LG, which each was easily half the size of a suburban Wal-Mart. Within all that, we found a bastion of light coming from a booth that had something we actually care about – gaming. The booth belonged to Nyko.

Rusty Hearts

Oh the genre of Massively Multiplayer Online RPG, it’s one of the few video gaming categories that really begs the question: how does anyone make any money creating one of these games? Especially with behemoth games like World of Warcraft and Guild Wars that easily overshadow just about any other game, mmo or not. Add to that, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of free-to-play mmo’s that allow you to play without having to spend a dime on the actual game if you wanted.

So with all that competition, how can a game like Rusty Hearts make a name for itself and is it worth the time to download? Continue reading Rusty Hearts

Guilty Crown – mini preview

So anime is going to be a big thing around these parts. We consider ourselves self-taught experts, as we’ve been seriously watching for well over a decade now. Oh man, after thinking about that, it’s been actually closer to being over 15 years! I’m sure all of the old anime fans in the crowd can remember the days when you almost had to set out on an expedition just to get a tape, that if you were lucky it had more than one episode on it.

Those were the Wild West days of anime in the US. Now, things are much better. Anime is still a popular niche category and great titles are coming out closer and closer to the airing dates in Japan. Which brings us to our show of interest – Guilty Crown.
